Leo Solar Eclipse: Beyond Superior or Inferior

r_winkelmann-lion-3289124

Leo Solar Eclipse

Superior or Inferior?

The Leo eclipse helps illuminate the light and shadow of superiority and inferiority.

Yet there is at least one other choice to add to the mix—one that uses the Pluto in Aquarius polarity to help us discover individuality that is different.

Not good or bad per se.
Just different.

I’ve seen and heard many of my colleagues touch on the nuances, and I particularly resonate with the empowerment theme.

That one makes a clear distinction between having control over circumstances and simply feeling capable of meeting a moment without needing to control each step along the way.

What If Different Is Just Different?

Again, that falls back into the ability to see a different path than you expected as one that is simply different.

You probably don’t know enough yet to decide whether it is better or worse.  Saturn retrograde in Aries shows us where false confidence is usually just a rush to judgement.  Patience is required.

Things are changing on such a massive scale that it’s unrealistic to believe we can map out any sort of predictable future based on current events.

Whether personally or globally, everywhere I look I see change.

The number of people who have shared how unplanned events cropped up repeatedly these past few days is staggering.

I’ve had my own experience with that.

Mostly on the pleasant side, but it still required a calendar shuffle and more.

Escaping the Seesaw

This circles back to our escape from the seesaw of superior and inferior that can come through the shadow with Leo.

We are all wired to shine in our own unique way.

These eclipses on the Leo/Aquarius axis get support from the outer planets to help ease us into the new.

So then it becomes about your choices:

Fresh choices.
More informed choices.

Informed, hopefully, more by who you are now than by fear of repeating past pains.

We’ve talked about coming from protection or instead making decisions that include being safe.

Guess what?

That superior/inferior point of view is NOT a safe viewpoint.

It is strongly linked to a desire to dominate or the fear of domination.

So with this eclipse, are you willing to look at where those sneaky little opinions lurk in your mind?

When the Shadow Comes Into View

The Astrology world has been rocked by a scandal that is right on this topic.

A long-time elder of the field talked about the shadow side and shared some vulnerable, uncomfortable underbelly viewpoints and history.

The community went wild.

Granted, he did it through clumsy communication that revealed the superior attitude he was working to evolve. He was tone-deaf to how it came across.

Yet it was right on point that, first, it was the shadow in clear view—one he was willing to reveal.

And secondly, the reception to his vulnerability moved into a militant reaction of right and wrong, good and bad.

There is much more to this, and it goes deep.

I won’t do a deeper analysis of racism and the desperately needed evolution of this behavior, except to say I am completely and utterly in favor of it.

HOW it comes about is my point of discussion.

Because the fierce denouncement and canceling of the man simply deepens the divide of an us-versus-them mentality.

Leo Is the Sign of Heart

Leo is the sign of heart.

Courage is drawn from the word cour, or heart.

It is only with courage that we can share our vulnerabilities, unappealing as some may be, in hopes of evolving them.

As a manager, one company I worked for invested thousands of dollars educating the leadership staff. They knew it would come back to them tenfold—and it did.

One of the best things I learned was that if you want to change bad behavior, the first two things required are to separate their behavior from the person and then maintain their self-esteem.

Because people in shame are unavailable for change, they are shut down, not expanding capacity to do better.

But when they understand that behaviors can change, and that someone believes they are capable of successfully changing their behavior for the better, real, meaningful growth can occur.

I’ve seen it happen in two different companies when I applied that principle with my staff.

In fact, they exceeded all expectations that I asked them to do.  They contributed their own ideas to improve things, too.

Their contributions were far better in one case, because they had done the work for so long.

I was committed to the principle from that day forward.

You can read more on how real this practice is in the book Don’t Fire Them, Fire Them Up by Frank Pacetta.

The Third Option

So apply that to the cancel culture we live in today.

Look around at the social media bullying and oppositional conversations everywhere.

This eclipse helps us reset that tendency and start exploring the third option.

Different isn’t guaranteed to be better or worse.

It’s just different.

Then, as a collective group—be it community, religious groups, political groups, or nations—we can evolve a standard of behavior that gives both security and freedom to be individual and still belong.

It begins when we set out to help one another do better rather than shoot the wounded when they fall short.

The first path builds resilience and strengthens connections.

The second one continues to narrow the field.

Even when the behavior is nothing you wish to engage with or support.  Start by seeing them as capable of better and wishing it for them.

The more you hate their behavior – the more heartfelt the wish.

There is real hidden power in wishing them better rather than hating.  It energizes your ability to do it for yourself!

Problem Behavior

This is NOT about making it your responsibility to tolerate behavior that harms the group or collective. Far from it.

It is about investing effort in finding a better solution than the one that currently seems available.

Here’s One Good Example: Vaccinations

There are strong feelings on both sides, with each sometimes demonizing the other as “sheep” or “reckless fools” for their point of view.

I’ve sat with the family suffering long term, disturbing side effects that no one is investigating in relation to a COVID vaccine received during early pregnancy.  The mother is debilitated, the baby had distressing, life altering birth defects. Their pain is real, and there appears to be no one investigating the correlation. So they swing toward being anti-vaccination for very tangible and distressing reasons.

Then I’ve also sat with the family of an autoimmune-challenged child who cannot safely attend school and is further isolated because so many children are unvaccinated, while a typical flu can be life-threatening.  Their family suffers deeply because there is no third option being explored right now – it’s simply for or against.  Black and white thinking is strongly linked to a trauma response, and it shows.

These are real people in pain.

For or against isn’t the only path.

What I see is a question worth exploring: when the race to monetize medicine takes precedence over careful research and practice, are we accepting risks that deserve more investigation?

That is the necessary starting point.

If everyone banded together and demanded that companies do better, how quickly could things shift?

We won’t know if we don’t explore it as an option.

This is beyond for or against, inferior or superior.

It is the path of:

We can do it differently, together.

The Courage to See

That’s what’s possible this eclipse when we have the courage to see the obstacles that stand between us and greater trust in our heart.

When I look at the fury in the Astrological community, it’s my chance to practice compassion.

Remember, we speak to others and about others just a little more kindly than we speak to ourselves.

So when people speak savagely about someone else, I can have compassion for the part of them that is on the receiving end of those same or worse thoughts and language.  Separate behavior from the person.  People can change.

It’s also an invitation to see where your opinions and judgments of others reveal where you could be in better relationship with yourself.

Notice superiority and inferiority positioning as a trigger sign, so you can stop and acknowledge where you may be at the moment. That is self care.  Don’t act from that place.  Recognize if someone else is doing it – they’re most likely triggered.

Then you can maintain your own self-esteem—and extend it to others—while you make meaningful progress in a better direction.  You don’t waste time trying to be right or defending.  You simply redirect to help get it right with each other.

Maintaining your self-esteem is definitely a key part of meaningful growth this Leo eclipse season.

How do you treat others when they fall short?  Now review how much your inner dialogue operates in similar fashion. Remember shame cuts us off from meaningful interactions and forces us into hiding.  That’s the opposite of Leo Heart Led Change.

You decide you are worthy of love and acceptance even when you make mistakes, right?  Believe you can do better and move in that direction, one small action step at a time, knowing mistakes – even in big things can be revisited.

As long as you are still here, you can work to make things more harmonious overall, not perfect, but certainly more enjoyable.

What a worthy goal that is: to make it a safe place for yourself and others to learn.

Imagine what joy there is in that community!  You can do it…

What Our Minds Do

It helps when you recognize our mind’s job is to sort things out, label things, and help us process what feels like an ocean of emotion.

Leo is heart-centered at its best, so those feelings may surprise you with a roar or two this next two weeks.

Eclipses help reveal where we have let outside authority shape more of what we feel than we realize.

Often, we internalize our early critics and now echo what they believed without actively deciding if it’s true for you now.

Time to uncover pockets you didn’t think were there.

Those places are often located behind the criticism and judgment we have for others.

Because research also shows that we judge what we ourselves struggle with but are doing better in the moment of comparison.

Give yourself a chance to be your best self with a little love and personal support in the mistakes you make along the way, right?  We never really know how hard another person is trying to do better – often in ways we can’t see.

This Leo Moon invites us to be more generous as we ask for better from ourselves or someone else.

When we maintain self esteem and believe we can all be more than a moment, the outcome can genuinely outpace our expectations often enough to be worth the risk.

Maintaining self esteem can start as simply as a kinder, encouraging self talk when you really screw up.

Can you talk yourself through to gleaning wisdom from the mistake and commit with trust you can do better next time?

Belong and Stand Out

Then the connections we invest in offer need to offer a place to both belong and stand out.

You can create that right now.

It’s an exploration to find what we can collectively create together that is bigger than one set path, one predetermined outcome.

With every conscious choice you make to catch yourself when you find yourself on the one-up, one-down way of relating, you can move deliberately into the horizontal, peer-to-peer.

You still get to ask for what you want and need.

And we also can learn to communicate more effectively with the right people for you, so that everybody feels room to grow safely together while we shine.

We can shape both individual and group best interests inclusive of what we believe is in shared values.  It’s not an easy task, but it is a worthy one.  It’s a heroic leap.  But then Leo is all about the courage to make those big leaps.

I’ll meet you there.  Practicing patience and encouragement to do a little better each day at moving out of right/wrong, good/bad, superior/inferior thinking.  Forgiving my mistakes but not forgetting to learn from them – that’s my gift to the world.

🌙 THE SKY

Leo Solar Eclipse — Who Are You Becoming?

Sometimes life changes before we have time to make a plan for it. A conversation takes an unexpected turn, something appears on the calendar that wasn’t there yesterday, or an opportunity arrives before we’re quite sure we’re ready. This Leo Solar Eclipse begins a two-week journey of noticing what is changing without immediately deciding whether it is better or worse. Sometimes we simply don’t know enough yet.

✨ THE CHOICE

Stay open to what arrives and notice where you are being invited to respond rather than control. You don’t have to reinvent yourself or have all the answers. Let yourself meet the moment as the person you are now, allowing inspiration to become a first step.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION – Page of Pentacles

What part of me that is ready to emerge now?  My inner confidence is all that is required to make meaningful, authentic contributions.  I can do that when I make it safe to take risks and learn from what does not work out as intended.

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

Who are you becoming—and what happens when you give yourself enough room to be more fully yourself?

THURSDAY, AUGUST 13

Ground the Vision
🌙 THE SKY

The eclipse may have ignited your imagination, but today asks you to bring inspiration into the tangible world. With the Moon moving into practical Virgo, attention naturally shifts toward organization, details, and the first steps that turn an idea into reality. An unexpected change of plans later in the day reminds you that flexibility is just as valuable as preparation.

✨ THE CHOICE

Take one practical step toward something that matters to you. You don’t have to build the whole path today—just give the vision somewhere to begin.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Knight of Pentacles — What steady action can bring your vision into form?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What is one thoughtful step I can take today?

FRIDAY, AUGUST 14

The Quiet Between Chapters

🌙 THE SKY

Today offers a natural pause. With the Moon Void of Course for much of the day, allow yourself to process what the eclipse has already set in motion rather than forcing progress. Answers don’t always arrive through action; sometimes they emerge when we stop pushing long enough to hear them.

✨ THE CHOICE

Let stillness be productive. Rest, observe, and allow things to settle before deciding what comes next.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

The Hermit — What becomes clearer when you stop looking outside yourself for the answer?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What might I discover if I give myself permission to pause?

SATURDAY, AUGUST 15

Think Bigger Than Before
🌙 THE SKY

Mercury and Jupiter meet in Leo, opening the door to bigger ideas, greater confidence, and conversations that may lead somewhere unexpected. As the Moon moves into Libra, relationships and other people’s expectations enter the picture. Dream boldly, but give yourself enough perspective to distinguish genuine possibility from a temporary emotional reaction.

✨ THE CHOICE

Let yourself imagine beyond what you already know without needing to decide everything today.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

The Star — What possibility becomes visible when you allow yourself to think bigger?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What would I imagine if I didn’t need to know how it would happen?

SUNDAY, AUGUST 16

Finding Your Balance Before Breakthrough
🌙 THE SKY

The Libra Moon encourages cooperation, diplomacy, and meaningful conversation. This is a good day to resolve misunderstandings or reconnect with someone important. Later, Saturn reminds us that healthy relationships need boundaries as much as affection.

✨ THE CHOICE

See responsibility as part of creating something lasting rather than as a restriction. Balance what you need with what your relationships need.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Justice — Where can honesty and balance create a stronger foundation?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What does healthy balance look like for me today?

MONDAY, AUGUST 17

Faith Meets Reality
🌙 THE SKY

Today asks you to distinguish inspiration from illusion. If something feels uncertain, slow down rather than filling in the blanks with what you hope is true. Clear thinking, practical planning, and warmer relationship energy help you find your footing.

✨ THE CHOICE

Verify before you act. Let inspiration lead, but allow reality to have a voice in the decision.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Seven of Cups — Which possibility is real enough to deserve your energy?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

Am I responding to what is actually here, or to what I hope is here?

TUESDAY, AUGUST 18

Keep Perspective
🌙 THE SKY

The Scorpio Moon squares Jupiter, increasing emotional intensity and the temptation to make something bigger than it is. Passion can be powerful when directed toward something meaningful, but enthusiasm doesn’t need to become overreaction.

✨ THE CHOICE

Pause before making promises, assumptions, or permanent decisions based on temporary feelings.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Temperance — What changes when I give myself time to find the middle ground?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What might look different if I give myself a little more perspective?

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19

An Inner Turning Point
🌙 THE SKY

The Scorpio Moon squares the Leo Sun, bringing a natural tension between what you intend and what you actually do. New beginnings often encounter their first meaningful test. Resistance doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on the wrong path—it may simply reveal where you’re growing beyond your comfort zone.

✨ THE CHOICE

Instead of treating resistance as failure, listen to what it is showing you. Make the adjustment that allows you to keep moving.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Two of Wands — What needs to change so you can move forward with greater confidence?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What is this resistance trying to teach me?

THURSDAY, AUGUST 20

Expand Your Horizons
🌙 THE SKY

The Moon moves into Sagittarius and lightens the emotional atmosphere, inviting exploration, optimism, and a broader perspective. Inspiration and transformation flow more easily, while an unexpected change may ask you to loosen your grip on the original plan.

✨ THE CHOICE

Stay curious when the road changes. The path you didn’t plan may have something important to show you.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

The Fool — What becomes possible when I am willing to explore the unknown?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

Can I remain curious when life surprises me?

FRIDAY, AUGUST 21

Love Gets Serious
🌙 THE SKY

Venus opposes Saturn, bringing relationships, finances, and personal values into sharper focus. This isn’t necessarily difficult energy, but it is honest. Strong foundations can deepen through maturity and mutual respect, while weaker ones ask to be acknowledged.

✨ THE CHOICE

Let consistency matter more than perfection. Honest conversations can strengthen what is worth keeping.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

The Hierophant — What values and commitments are strong enough to build upon?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What does consistency look like in the relationships and commitments I value?

SATURDAY, AUGUST 22

The Work Begins
🌙 THE SKY

As the Sun enters Virgo, the energy shifts from Leo’s inspiration toward Virgo’s refinement. Big dreams now ask for practical planning, organization, and consistent effort. The Capricorn Moon reinforces the message: patience and preparation help turn possibility into something lasting.

✨ THE CHOICE

Do the next necessary thing. Progress doesn’t always feel exciting, but it creates the structure that lets a vision grow.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Eight of Pentacles — What deserves your patient attention right now?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What am I willing to practice consistently to create what I want?

SUNDAY, AUGUST 23

Healing Through Responsibility
🌙 THE SKY

Today reminds us that emotional maturity sometimes means doing what needs to be done before doing what feels easy. Frustration or pressure may surface, but healing can come through humility, learning, and taking responsibility for what is actually ours to handle.

✨ THE CHOICE

Resist reacting defensively. Meet the responsibility in front of you and let that action become part of your growth.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Strength — Can I meet what is difficult without turning against myself?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What becomes possible when I respond with courage instead of defensiveness?

MONDAY, AUGUST 24

Pause Before the Pivot
🌙 THE SKY

Another Void of Course Moon creates a natural pause before the pace accelerates again. Use today to reflect, organize, and simplify rather than forcing answers. Sometimes transitional days quietly integrate more than we realize.

✨ THE CHOICE

Give yourself permission to breathe. Not every pause needs to become a problem that needs solving.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

The Hanged Man — What can I see differently when I stop trying to move forward?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What needs space to settle before I decide what comes next?

TUESDAY, AUGUST 25

Brilliant Minds Change Direction
🌙 THE SKY

Mercury enters Virgo and sharpens the mind, bringing greater organization, discernment, and attention to detail. With supportive connections to Chiron, Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus, important ideas and conversations may arrive with unusual clarity.

✨ THE CHOICE

Pay attention to what suddenly makes sense. A useful idea, honest conversation, or practical solution may be more important than it first appears.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Ace of Swords — What truth or insight is ready to become clear?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What do I know now that I couldn’t see before?

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26

Building the Future
🌙 THE SKY

The Aquarius Moon emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and long-term vision. This is supportive energy for teamwork, community, and relationships built around shared goals. Small actions taken today may matter more for the future than immediate rewards suggest.

✨ THE CHOICE

Think beyond the immediate payoff. Consider what you are building through the choices you make today.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Three of Pentacles — Who can I build something meaningful with?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What am I creating that I want to last?

THURSDAY, AUGUST 27

The Messenger Speaks Clearly
🌙 THE SKY

Mercury joins the Sun in Virgo, creating a moment of unusual mental clarity. Important news, realizations, or the confidence to finally speak your truth may arrive. As the Moon moves toward Pisces and tomorrow’s Lunar Eclipse, trust the meaningful coincidences, intuitive nudges, and conversations that seem to arrive at exactly the right moment.

✨ THE CHOICE

Listen closely. You don’t need to force the revelation—give yourself enough quiet to recognize it when it arrives.

🃏 TAROT COMPANION

Judgment — What truth am I finally ready to hear?

🌱 LIVING QUESTION

What is becoming clear that I am ready to acknowledge?

In conclusion…
