This eclipse is one that hasn’t been seen since 1440, around the time Machu Pichu was being built. So it’s not a stretch to say we live in unprecedented times of change. So what does it help to know in these extraordinary times? Remember how I say you cannot repeat the old without paying a higher price. Well now you can get to the bottom of why the repetition happens. Time to check in on the tribal feminine, that driving need to belong.
Two competing needs are fundamental to our lives, first to belong and then to stand out. The deeper layers of the tribal belonging are in evidence all around us. The ‘us versus them’ of politics, countries, religions are on display globally. That mind set of like being safe and unlike being dangerous because it’s unknown has been proven in babies of three months old. They prefer to fix their gaze on stuffed animals dressed like themselves. We have survival instincts in every one of us. Sameness indicates some measure of safety.
Governments, political affiliations, church membership all offer the security of a shared point of view or belief. Going beyond that view in times of chaos and change is resisted. People want the familiar to cling to when the world around them shifts. Which mean unpleasant coping skills are visible. This are not a condemnation of people using them, rather they are the measure of the unpredictability in the world that breeds fear. This eclipse season offers each of us a chance to explore core reasons for what drives us and how to work with those instincts more effectively.
Let me give you an example. I was talking with someone earlier this week and they started to speak negatively about a shared acquaintance. It got a little pointed and I heard myself offering up a couple of my own not so pleasant experiences to add to the pile. Suddenly I felt a bit twitchy and uncomfortable in my skin. A guideline for myself is not to say something about someone that I wouldn’t say to them. These experiences I shared had been carefully discussed with the person being talked about, but our conversations were productive. So it felt like I was somehow taking a cheap shot and a missed opportunity if I didn’t include that in the current dialogue.
The other person wasn’t ready to hear that from me yet, when I offered up balanced details. They still wanted the protection of being able to point out what this person did that was unsettling. Like mental armor they used their recall of past misdeeds to put distance between them and the offender. What surprised me was how easily I had jumped in to ‘share’ his point of view even though I had moved to what’s next. Belonging, in that moment, meant I had to be like him and share his view. It puzzled me, my automatic response. What was so difficult about just listening and validating his story without joining in to add my piece?
The answer goes to the core of belonging. I realize that the greater the need to feel I belong, the more I felt I had to match the other person. Since I moved into a better relationship with the person discussed, I was no longer in the same place he was with her. Now the practice is to hold my current view while still making space for him to be where he was. Doing that can actually enlarge the shared space we have together, rather than squeeze back down into narrow ‘us versus them’ mentality. He can arrive at a better place or not, without me needing it now. Nor did I have to join him where he was. To each his or her own while still connected. Suddenly the light dawned, this is the unavoidable change of this eclipse.

11/19/21 LUnar eclipse ten of pentacles
What a wonderful match for this Lunar Eclipse. It echoes the message of personal responsibility paying dividends. Or it cautions that a lack of such gets a cosmic ticket to pay. With Uranus sitting up close with the Full Moon, we cannot avoid the light on those dark corners. You can slap your hands over your eyes and pretend not to see it, but the lightning bolt hits either way. So it’s the right hour to take action on the new information, slowly and more fittingly to your life as you live it now. This is an eclipse not seen for centuries and you will are part of it. You belong to a very unusual generation.
The drive to belong is strong, yet it matters HOW you belong. Think of adding your piece to something as long lasting as Machu Pichu. How much better to bring your adult self to any interaction instead of the reactive young you who doesn’t know your own strength. Time to make it safe to see or believe things differently than the crowd. Imagine a world without such polarization around differences. Where we appreciate that each individual offers their unique piece to whatever we create together. That is how long lasting change happens and you are a part of it.
When you view that possibility the picture I see is puzzle pieces that all interlock together to provide one big beautiful landscape. This Taurus Lunar eclipse with Uranus opposite the Sun and Mercury in Scorpio also square up Jupiter. Whatever Jupiter in Aquarius touches goes big, for better or worse. So turn the lens of Mercury and the ego of the Sun in Scorpio inward and find where your fear keeps you from living in harmony with the world around you. Once you discover that, the eclipse leaves you with the gift of knowing your special place in the scheme of things, just by being you.
11/20/21 Queen of swords
Today is a good day to watch what comes out of your mouth. First, because with Mercury and the Wounded Healer Chiron in contact, you may get a peek at the wound from your past that still haunts today’s interactions. Secondly, because it is easy to serve up verbal slicing and dicing as this sharp Queen stands at attention. In efforts to dot all the ‘i’s’ and cross all the ‘t’s’, this unemotional queen can lead with logic when a little more heart would help. It’s also a good day to practice the ‘less is more’ approach. Start small and let efforts build on whatever traction you get. You get help communicating more intuitively into the evening. Just don’t use your insight to manipulate and outcome. The blow back will not be kind if you do.
11/21/21 Six of cups
It’s an easier day today thanks to some help from a Gemini Moon in sweet talks with Jupiter in Aquarius. As the Sun moves into Sagittarius we also get an assist for an optimistic inflow on whatever you have before you. The Moon moves into Cancer asking you take stock of those childhood stories, the good and the bad. Nothing is ever one sided all by itself. Those annoying patterns, those limiting beliefs, those challenging memories of feeling anything but powerful have an opposite component, too. Maybe not equally balanced but you had moments of discovery, enchantment, curiosity and optimism. Retrieve some of those as well. A well rounded view of you is just what the day offers up so you can experience the transformational tension of opposites.
11/22/21 prince of cups
Normally this sweet Prince is a messenger of an offer or proposal received. Today with Moon square Chiron, it’s easier to slip into that young space that expects others to do more than their fair share of work in relationship. Keep an eye on that and just notice. The smarter you are, the better you can be at justifying why you are right to judge or blame another. Better to clean up your side of the street. Think of it as good preparation for the offers that can come your way when this Prince gets right side up and out of the blame game!
11/23/21 Death
Watch out for righteous indignation and overt certainty today. Anything in that neighborhood of emotion is separation energy. Look more for a moderate wave of feeling, if you can find it. The extremes are when we most feel the need to protect ourselves. We project monster faces onto ordinary people and react accordingly. We get a little help undoing that impulse early afternoon as Moon trines Neptune, but this evening it may dial up again as the Moon squares up Eris, the planet of Discord.
This pesky planet insists we honor all our feelings, we just don’t have to vent them at will. Be selective in expressing yourself. Pay attention if you pull in justification and line up proof for your indignant response. You aren’t in your power when that happens, you are over estimating the threat. Get curious about the stories in your head. Question them. Doubt your doubts. Good. Take a breath and try that conversation from there.

We get a lot of celestial support to face down those nagging voices in your head today. This five signals that self doubt is present, even if you don’t see it immediately. It’s the place where you underestimate yourself. Spend a few minutes today if you catch yourself holding back, downplaying your part or deflecting praise and thanks. These are all ways of overpaying to belong so you don’t stand out. I bet you catch at least one of these if not more with just a little care and attention to the inner sound track.
11/25/21 Temperance Happy thanksgiving
What a sweet card for holiday of gratitude. Easy does it is this card’s mantra. What good advice on a day known for excessive eating, right? There are a few more excesses lingering today to watch for, including over correcting on left-over sore points from days past. Good to remember that when we defend, blame, argue, we want to separate from something that feels like a threat. Investigate. Get curious.
If they don’t share your feelings, thoughts, beliefs, how well can you sit with that. Don’t worry if you aren’t great at it. Not many are. Set the intention to expand your view to include a bigger frame around the world. One that you make safe with each conscious choice you make. There is definitely something to give thanks for when your world view includes all the puzzle pieces working in harmony together. It is possible… one choice at a time.

Oh do we get some help with the choppy waters of yesterdays wave of emotions. Don’t be surprised if you get insight into how to honor your wants and needs in a way that is respectful, if not validating, of those who see it differently. Saturn sextiles the sore spot of Chiron to turn grit into pearls over time. When you can acknowledge and honor your emotions, all of them, without rushing to act on them and turn others into enemies, beautiful solutions are possible. That much expansion can trigger a bit of pull back, so pause long enough to give yourself credit for what you achieve. This three is a ship in the harbor, even if it isn’t at the dock yet. It’s not quite time to unload all the good things onboard. It’s more a time to celebrate how far you’ve come along the way!

Since there are a few challenges to being articulate today around those emerging feelings, this Ace says self care first. If you tend to what you feel and what that feeling needs, you put your own oxygen mask on first. It’s also a good day to do emotional housecleaning. There are old stories that get stuck in our throats when we try to swallow them. You need a better interpretation of what happens to you now. By evening the Moon and Uranus meet up to turn the light on dark corners that you can sweep clean of debris. Kindness matters. Be kind to yourself and then you find it easier to be kind to others whether in thought, word or deed.

Well the Moon and Venus are working together, so are Moon and Mars today. This slow moving King promises results you can see, touch and taste over time. These aspects highlight an inner strength and determination for any task at hand. Let the body guide you today. If you feel a ‘yes’, which is a softer, open relaxedness in the body then do what your body says yes to and enjoy. Don’t rush. If you get a ‘no’, which is a curve in on the shoulders or tension in the belly then relax. No need to push. The timing may not be right to ram something through. Pace yourself. Enjoy a break if you feel like it. Savor the feeling of steady progress.

This card always highlights a heart choice over a head choice. Choose feelings first today and since this is the card that also means giving something up to get something better, be patient. I know, I’m not a huge fan of those words either. Still, true greatness takes time. Remember you are part of time in history that hasn’t happened in over 600 years. Choose the long game. Let those big dreams roll in your mind and then focus your actions on today. What needs an upgraded approach? Where can you let in more information than your typical defensive response allows? Machu Pichu was built over time to stand the test of time. See where you actions can be more in line with that approach.
11/30/21 ten of wands
This is the second ten in the moon cycle which indicates good fortune associated with changes of work. Ten is also taking things to the next level, this time on an intuitive level. The tricky part about this is you aren’t as masterful when you head to the next level as you were in the last arena. So be patient with your learning curve. You may start the day optimistic about any change ahead then wind up fearful that old wounds will show up in spite of the new beginning. It helps to remember what hurt in the past can inform you as to how to take care of your wants and needs without depending on outside circumstances. While it feels good to get recognition from others, be sure you give it to yourself first. In fact, that’s a good habit to get into practice giving yourself. You deserve it…

The challenges of today may feel overwhelming for a hot moment, but breathe into them and they become the chick pecking its way out of a shell. That shell felt claustrophobic or the chick never would have left, right. So any pressure you encounter today is to help you break down what limits a whole world waiting for you. With Mercury in tense aspect to Uranus, we may not want the insight, but boy do we need it. Those breakthroughs let in air and light to give you a tempting glimpse of the abundance around you if you only stop and look.

Your intuitive knowing is on overdrive today. Have some fun with it, why don’t you? Look for signs, messages and coincidences that are more than coincidental. Your body offers a lot of fine detail when you slow down and let it into the conversation. When you play with the insight being delivered, your fun sidetracks some of the instinctive fear response to expansion. Just remember control is not an easy playmate for enjoyment. If you find yourself clenched or teeth gritted trying to get specific results, try another tactic. See how much play you can squeeze out of whatever is in front of you, regardless of the results.
